The purpose of the Friends of Salem Woods, Inc., as stated in the Bylaws, is as follows:
The Friends of Salem Woods, Inc. is formed to preserve, for all time, the 160-acre woods of Highland Park, the Forest River estuary, Thompson’s Meadow, and the abutting uplands. The natural heritage and history of this area is an asset for residents and visitors alike. In the interest of establishing this irreplaceable natural area as a sanctuary for the animal and plant life which live in and use this open space, and to preserve the ecology of this area, it is the purpose of Friends of Salem Woods, Inc. to form a partnership with any and all interested parties, public or private.
The Friends is a non-profit corporation.
